Configure Paypal to Pipe Contributions to your Campaign Account

If you don't already have a merchant account, and you don't anticipate doing the volume of donations which would make acquiring one cost-effective, you can still use CampaignFoundation.com's web forms to pipe online contributions directly into your campaign account by using paypal to process the credit and debit card contributions you raise on your site.

Create and log in to your paypal account.

Select the Merchant Tools tab at the top of the page.

In the "PayPal Website Payments Standard" section of this page, use the Donations button to create a donation button.

On the Donations page, enter an abitrary, but short descriptive phrase in the Donation Name/Service field., and an arbitrary number in the Donation ID/Number field. Leave the Donation Amount blank and choose appropriate defaults for country and currency.

Accept the default button. The button itself won't be used by our application anyway.

Under Security Settings, choose No, that you don't want the button encrypted. That is a feature required to protect item prices from fraudulent manipulation. You want to use these parameters to collect donations from $1.00 to $1,000.00 and more. Encryption is not needed.

Choose the Add More Options button at the bottom of this page. In the page that follows, in the section labeled: Customize Your Buyer's Experience (optional), complete both the Successful Payment URL and the Cancel Payment URL fields. In the section labeled: Miscellaneous (optional), choose the No shipping needed radio button.

Hit the Create Button Now button.

The resultant page is called: Add a button to your website. In the first section labeled: Copy your custom HTML code, do just that. Copy the html code generated by the paypal application and paste it into a plaint text email, addressed to hesco@campaignfoundations.com.

We'll extract the connection parameters which will permit us to use our web forms to build a database of donors while passing those contributions through your paypal account directly into your campaign's website.
