The donation / subscription / volunteer forms provided by supporters.cgi are backed by a referral engine designed to make the data you collect on your website immediately available in usable forms by the people who need it.

supporters.cgi was written to build the Green Party and its lists in ways that will survive the close of the polls on election day. Campaigns come and go. But our county and state Parties survive to field the next candidate, to prosecute the next campaign. So that your campaign can make the maximum possible long range impact on your Party's ability to do this more effectively next cycle, we provide a means for you to invite your supporters to subscribe to your Party lists while you invite them to subscribe to your own campaign lists.

Creating a template for the forms and editing and installing supporters.copy will wrap our forms in your campaign's look-n-feel, menus and message. Because supporters.cgi serves multiple clients, we are limited in customizations we can make to the forms themselves. But we can handle and distribute the data they collect in a variety of ways.

For each checkbox you wish to enable, we need to know at least the listname, listtype, state, software, baseurl, email_subscribe_host, listinfo, listadmin, pubpvt, administrator1, admin1email, statecoordinator and statecoordinatoremail.

In addition, if we are to refer new donors, subscribers and volunteers to anyone other than the candidate, treasurer, subscription manager and volunteer coordinator defined in the supporters.conf file, we also need to know their name, state, county and email.

Currently, the referral engine makes referrals based on states. But soon we hope to expand that to make referrals based on county and perhaps zipcode, as well. We understand how important this function will be for state wide and congressional campaigns.
